During the IEA PVPS Executive Committee Meeting in Santiago, Chile, November 12-15, 2019, we visited several photovoltaic installations. Near Antofagasta, these were the solar technology platform of the Atacama Desert, a 1 MW demonstration installation and a commercial 50 MW installation ("Uribe Solar"). These installations are operated under the extreme conditions of the Atacama Desert (radiation, temperature fluctuations, wind and dust) and provide important experience. Near Santiago, a commercial, uniaxially tracked 110 MW installation ("Quilapilún") was visited. The various visits provided good impressions of Chile's great efforts to use and further develop photovoltaics under the special conditions of this country.
