We have developed guidelines for application of photovoltaics in Swiss municipalities, based on the European Solar ElectriCity Guide. These guidelines show the possibilities of solar power production at the municipal level, as well as in local energy and spatial planning policies. Although already over ten years old – and over this time period, photovoltaics has strongly developed, both economically and technologically – the Guidelines for “Solar Electricity in the Municipality” address issues comprehensively and richly illustrate them. Such issues have become even more relevant today in almost every municipality.
